Bringing beloved characters to life through color and storytelling.
Role: Freelance Story Artist (Within the Global freelance team, led by the Art Director)
For Disney Publishing Worldwide, I created digital artwork for children’s storybooks based on beloved films like Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Monsters University, Tangled, and Brave. My task was to bring scenes to life through vibrant, polished color, lighting, and texture, either by painting directly over provided line work ("pencils") or by enhancing and finalizing rough color passes.
Often, I was given completed line art and painted the artwork from scratch, establishing the color palette, lighting, and atmosphere to support the drama and storytelling, all while ensuring consistency with Disney’s established visual style. In other cases, I received partially painted scenes that required refinement and final rendering. In every assignment, my focus was on elevating the narrative through expressive color and rich detail, creating visuals that captured the magic of the films for young readers around the world.
Below are just a selection of the dozens of digital paintings I completed specifically for the Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University storybooks, including titles such as Monsters, Inc. Movie Book, Monsters, Inc. Storybook Collection, and Monsters University Movie Book.
